Frequently asked questions.

Beta
What is the beta?

The beta is Kallpa's open testing phase. You get access to all PRO features for free throughout the test period. In return, your feedback helps improve the product before the official launch.

How long is the beta free?

Kallpa is completely free throughout the beta phase. The transition to the paid model will be announced with sufficient notice. Beta users will benefit from a lifetime founder rate.

Are my data saved after the beta?

Yes. Your history, plans, VDOT paces, and Strava data remain accessible after the beta. No data loss when transitioning to production.

How do I get a founder rate?

All users who join Kallpa during the beta phase automatically get the founder rate — a lifetime discount applied when upgrading to PRO. No action required, it's tied to your account.

Method
What is VDOT?

VDOT is a measure of your aerobic capacity calculated from your race performances. Developed by Jack Daniels, it allows precise training paces adapted to your actual level — and adjusts them as you progress.

How does Kallpa calculate my training paces?

Kallpa uses your current VDOT to derive 5 intensity zones (E, M, T, I, R) following Jack Daniels' tables. Each Strava run recalculates your VDOT if a recent performance is detected, keeping your paces always up to date.

What is TRIMP and how does it measure my load?

TRIMP (Training Impulse) is a load score combining duration and intensity of each session — running, cycling, swimming, gym. Kallpa uses it to calculate your ACWR ratio (acute/chronic workload) and detect overload or underload risks before they injure you.

How does the AI Coach adapt my plan mid-cycle?

The AI Coach analyzes your weekly load, HRV (if available via Strava), and session history to identify at-risk weeks. It can suggest shifting an intense session, adding active recovery, or adjusting the following week's volume.

Strava
Do I need Strava Premium?

No. Kallpa works with a free Strava account. The integration uses the official Strava API, accessible to all users. Strava Premium doesn't provide any additional data to Kallpa.

Which Strava activities are taken into account?

All activities from your Strava library are imported: running, cycling, swimming, hiking, trail, gym, and more. Each activity type contributes to your global TRIMP load based on its intensity and duration.

Do cycling and swimming count toward my load?

Yes — that's one of Kallpa's core reasons for existing. Classic running apps ignore cross-training. Kallpa aggregates everything into your weekly load score. A week with 3 intense cycling sessions can exceed the overload threshold just as much as a heavy running week.

What happens if I disconnect Strava?

Your already-imported activity history stays in Kallpa. New activities won't sync until you reconnect your Strava account. You can reconnect at any time from settings.

Pricing
How much does it cost after the beta?

The PRO plan will be €12/month. Beta users get a founder rate with a significant lifetime discount. The Free plan remains available forever with essential features.

Is there a permanent free plan?

Yes. The FREE plan includes 5K → half-marathon training plans, VDOT after each run, unlimited Strava sync, and basic ACWR monitoring. Free forever, no credit card.

When does billing start?

Not during the beta. Billing will only start when Kallpa goes into official production. You'll receive an email with clear notice before any charge. No surprises.

Technical
Does it work offline?

No. Kallpa is a web application that requires an internet connection to sync Strava, calculate load, and display your plan. An offline version is planned for a future release.

Is there a mobile iOS/Android app?

Not yet. Kallpa is currently a responsive progressive web app (PWA), optimized for mobile. You can add it to your home screen from your browser. A native app is on the roadmap.

What devices are supported?

Kallpa works on all modern devices: iPhone, Android, tablets, computers. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge are supported. No installation required — just open app.kallpa.run in your browser.
